NHSCA names 2017-2018 Academic All Americans

The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) is proud to announce the 2018 High School Academic All-Americans for the 2017-2018 school year. This marks the 25th year in which the NHSCA has honored those who triumph in and out of the classroom.

 

In total, 114 Academic All-Americans hailing from 34 states have been selected. The honorees excel in 12 different sports. The total breakdown is as follows: 7 Freshman Student Athletes, 27 Sophomore Student Athletes, 42 Junior Student Athletes and 38 Senior Student Athletes.


“This year’s Academic All Americans are the epitome of what a student-athlete is. Not only do they excel on the playing field, mat, court, pool, and track, but they also excel in the classroom” stated NHSCA CEO Bobby Ferraro. “These student-athletes are leaders in and out of the classroom and are the future leaders of tomorrow. We are proud to deem them Academic All Americans.”

 

This year Massachusetts led the way with 11 Academic All Americans, followed by North Carolina and Georgia, each with 10 selections. The student-athletes averaged a 3.9 GPA, with 47 students coming in with a 4.0 or better.

 

All honored Academic All Americans will be recognized in the National High School Digital Sports Hall of Fame Museum which is currently under design.


The following is a listing of the NHSCA’s Academic All American Team, listed alphabetically by graduating class.


Class of 2021
Louis Bradley (Connecticut) competes in the sport of wrestling at The Morgan School for Coach Marvin Meyer. He placed 5th in his Class S state championships this year and had a season record of 30-8. Louis has a 3.7 GPA.


Sedona Dancu (North Carolina) competes in the sport of Cross Country for Coach Farrell O’Quinn at Covenant Day High School. She finished 4th in the state championships this year. Sedona has a 3.6 GPA.


Patrick Hemingway (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of Swimming for coach Kurt Sprowls at Bishop McDevitt High School. His relay placed 5th in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Free Relay at this year’s state championships. Patrick has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #51 in his class of 157 students.


Jake Ice (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Minnechaug Regional High School for coach Mike Ice. He placed 6th in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 33-10. Jake has a 3.6 GPA.


Maximilian Leete (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Danvers High School for coach Tim Rich. He placed 1st in his wrestling state championships this year and had a season record of 53-3. Maximilian has a 3.9 GPA.

Brandon Paredes (Arizona) competes in the sport of wrestling at Marana Mountain View High School for Coach P.J. Ponce. He placed 5th in this year’s state wrestling championships and had a season record of 46-12. Brandon has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked #48 in his class of 427 students. His future goals are to be an orthopedic surgeon.


Tyra Richardson (Illinois) competes in the sport of tennis for Saint Ignatius College Prep High School for Coach Kirby Morrison. She finished 8th in her state championships this year and was named 1st Team All-State. Tyra has a 3.7 GPA.


Class of 2020

Hunter Adrian (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Melrose High School for coach James Bleiler. He is a two-time state wrestling champion, placing 1st as a freshman and a sophomore. Hunter had a season record of 51-0 and a current career record of 105-5. He has a 4.0 GPA.

Jackson Boles (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling for South Stokes High School for Coach Chad Amos. He won his state wrestling championships this year and had a 37-4 season record. Jackson has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #18 in his class of 135 students.

Russell Canova (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Danvers High School for coach Tim Rich. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 8th as a freshman and 4th as a sophomore. Russell had a season record of 45-13 and has a current career record of 90-25. He has a 3.6 GPA.

Santos Cantu III (Oregon) competes in the sport of wrestling at Sprague High School for Coach Nolan Harris. He is a two-time state wrestling champion and has a career record so far of 65-7. Santos has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #32 in his class of 392 students.

Eli Cargas (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of swimming at Bishop McDevitt High School for Coach Kurt Sprowls. His relay placed 5th in the 200 Medley Relay at his state championships this year. Eli has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #47 in his class of 186 students.

Jacoby Cottrell (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Chattooga High School for Coach Brian Beasley. He placed 5th in his state wrestling championships this year. Jacoby has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #12 in his class.

Benjamin Doyle (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of of swimming at Downingtown STEM Academy for Coach Gudrun Graesser. In his freshman year he placed 9th in 100 Breaststroke, and his 200 Medley Relay placed 20th. In his sophomore year he placed 6th in 100 Breastroke and 23rd in 50 freestyle. Benjamin has a 4.0 GPA.

Jake Fernicola (South Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Woodmont High School for Coach Joseph Fernicola. He placed 3rd in his state championships this year and had a 58-2 season record with a current career record of 98-13. Jake has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #26 in his class. He would like to study Business Law in college.

Jackson Garoutte (Colorado) competes in the sport of wrestling at Pueblo County High School for Coach Eddie Soto. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a freshman and 2nd as a sophomore. Jackson had a season record of 42-9 and has a current season record of 84-18. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #15 in his class. Jackson would like to study Aerospace or engineering in college.

Krissy Gately (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of softball at Moses Brown School for Coach Peter DeStefano. Her team placed second in the state last year in D1. Krissy has a 3.7 GPA and her future plans include attending a college in the Northeast.

Caitlin Gooding (Massachusetts) competes in the sports of softball and basketball at Moses Brown School for Coach Peter DeStefano. Her softball team placed second in the state last year in D1. Her basketball team was crowned state champions that same year. Caitlin has a 3.9 GPA and her future plans are to major in Biology and go to medical school.

Colby Hemmert (Oregon) competes in the sport of wrestling at Sprague High School for Coach Nolan Harris. He placed 5th in his state wrestling championships this year. Colby has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked #42 in his class of 392 students.

Ivvy Hicks (Illinois) competes in the sport of tennis at Saint Ignatius College Prep High
School for Coach Kirby Morrison. She was named 3rd Team All-State in Illinois this year. Ivvy has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked in the top 15% of her class of 350 students. Her future plans are to study science and become a surgeon. She also plans to continue her tennis career in college.

Emily Horgen (Florida) competes in the sport of Track at The Benjamin School for Coach Ryan Smith. She placed 5th in the Florida 1A State Track Meet in the 800m. Her 4x800 relay placed 4th in the state meet. Emily has a 4.46 GPA and would like to major in Biology/Pre-Med in college.

Griffin Jarrett (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Chattooga High School for Coach Brian Beasley. He is a two-time state champion and has a current career record of 132-5. Griffin has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #12 in his class.

Cael Johnson (Kansas) competes in the sport of wrestling at Burlington High School for Coach Doug Vander Linden. He placed 3rd in his state wrestling championship this year and had a season record of 44-4 and has a current career record of 81-9. Cael has a 3.9 GPA and is currently ranked #12 in his class.

Chayse LaJoie (Michigan) competes in the sport of wrestling at Gaylord High School for Coach Jerry LaJoie. He is a two-time state champion and had a season record this year of 49-4 with a current career record of 101-8. Chayse has a 4.0 GPA and is currently ranked #28 in his class of 248 students.

Kyle Maziarz (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of swimming and diving at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School for Coach T.J. Barry. He finished first in his state diving competition this year. Kyle has a 4.0 GPA and would like to continue diving competition in college.

Thomas McCormick (Nevada) competes in the sport of wrestling at Churchill County High School for Coach Trevor deBraga. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 2nd as a freshman and winning the title this year. Thomas had a season record of 43-13 and has a current career record of 84-26. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #1 in his class. Thomas has plans to attend Stanford University.

Jacob McKnight (Michigan) competes in the sport of wrestling at Gaylord High School for Coach Jerry LaJoie. He placed 6th in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 54-9. He has a current career record of 86-12. Jacob has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #32 in his class of 248 students.

Trevor Nugent (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Masconomet Regional High School for Coach Todd Darling. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 2nd as a freshman and 3rd this year as a sophomore. Trevor had a season record of 46-10 and has a current career record of 95-17. He has a 3.8 GPA and would like to attend either Cornell or Brown upon graduation.

Morgan Plouffe (Rhode Island) competes in the sports of softball, basketball and soccer at Moses Brown School for Coach Peter DeStefano. Morgan’s softball team placed 2nd in the state championships last year. Her basketball team won the state title that same year. Morgan was also named 3rd team All-State in soccer her freshman year. She has a 3.8 GPA and her future plans are to study sports medicine while playing college sports.

Berit Quass (Iowa) competes in the sport of swimming at Dowling Catholic High School for Coach Frankie Hanson. In her freshman year she finished 2nd in the 100 Fly and 1st in the 500 Free and was named All-State. This year as a sophomore she placed 1st in both the 100 Fly and 500 Free and was named All-State once again. Berit has a 4.0 and would like to continue her swimming career in college.

Leif Schroeder (Montana) competes in the sport of wrestling at Bozeman High School for Coach Nate Laslovich. He is a two-time state wrestling champion, taking first place both as a freshman and a sophomore. Leif had a season record of 48-2 and has a current career record of 94-3. He has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #102 in his class of 543 students.

Garrett Spikes (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Mountain View High School for Coach Jim Gassman. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 6th as a freshman and 3rd as a sophomore. Garrett had a season record this year of 35-7 and has a current career record of 50-15. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #21 in his class of 699 students.

Colin Stevens (Kentucky) competes in the sport of wrestling at Trigg County High School for Coach Ralph Stevens. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 6th as a freshman and 3rd as a sophomore. Colin had a season record this year of 45-5 and has a current career record of 78-17. He has a 4.0 GPA.

Olivia Sutter (North Carolina) competes in the sport of swimming at Carolina Day School for Coach Graeme McGufficke. She placed 1st in the 500 Free at her state swimming championships last year and was named All-State. Olivia placed 1st in the 200 IM in her state championship this year and was named All-State once again. She has a 4.0 GPA and her future plans are to attend college and major in biology/chemistry where she hopes to continue her swimming career.


Class of 2019
Earl Blake (Maryland) competes in the sport of wrestling at at Linganore High School for Coach Dale Deaton. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 2nd as a freshman and winning the title as both a sophomore and junior. Earl had a season record this year of 41-1 and has a current career record of 105-12. He has a 3.7 GPA.

Dalton Blankenship (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at the Darlington School for Coach Bryan Kelley McDurmon. He is a three-time state wrestling champion and had a season record this year of 35-1. Dalton has a current career record of 98-8. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #37 in his class of 122 students. He would like to study engineering at a D 111 college.

Cameron Blizard (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Ragsdale High School for Coach Cameron Thomas Blizard. He took 3rd place this year as a junior in his state wrestling championships and had a season record this year of 43-4 with a current career record of 120-35. Cameron has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #14 in his class of 383 students. He would like to study Engineering.

Brett Bober (Kansas) competes in the sport of wrestling at Burlington High School for Coach Doug Vander Linden. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a freshman, 5th as a sophomore and 2nd this year as a junior. Brett had a season record this year of 41-6 and has a current career record of 123-22. He has a 3.6 GPA.

Talon Borror (Oklahoma) competes in the sport of wrestling at Coweta High School for Coach Ashton Cooper. He is a two-time state wrestling champion, finishing first his sophomore and junior year. Talon finished fourth as a freshman in his state wrestling championship. He has a current career record of 86-15. Talon has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #73 in his class of 234 students.

Aidan Burns (New Jersey) competes in the sport of winter track at Clearview Regional High School for Coach Daniel Matozzo.   This year as a junior he was the state champion in the 55 yard dash at the New Jersey Group III state championships.  Aidan has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #43 in his class of 375 students.  He plans to study Pre-Med in college.


Landon Burrage (Alabama) competes in the sport of wrestling at Oxford High School for Coach Matt Hicks. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a sophomore and 2nd as a junior. Landon had a season record this year of 56-22 and has a current career record of 158-49. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #10 in his class of 297 students. He will attend Auburn University and study Engineering.

Emma Campbell (Rhode Island) competes in the sport of softball at Moses Brown School for Coach Peter DeStefano. Her softball team placed 2nd in the state championships in 2016 and 2nd in 2017. Emma was named 3rd Team All-State in her sophomore year. She has a 3.7 GPA and her future plans are to study biochemistry and art at a college in the New England area.

Declan Carroll (South Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Cardinal Newman High School for Coach Bryan Bush. He won his state wrestling championships this year as a junior and had a season record of 25-9. Declan has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #13 in his class of 75 students. He would like to major in International Relations in college.

Aidan Conner (Texas) competes in the sport of wrestling at Highland Park High School for Coach Timothy Marzuola. He is a two-time state wrestling champion, winning his titles as a sophomore and junior. Aidan had a season record this year of 53-0 and has a current career record of 153-19. He has a 3.8 GPA .

Tyler Crew (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Camden County High School for Coach Jess Wilder. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a freshman and winning the title as both a sophomore and junior. Tyler had a season record this year of 41-3 and has a current career record of 145-15. He has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked #42 in his class of 610 students.

Clare Culver (Iowa) competes in the sport of swimming at Dowling Catholic High School for Coach Frankie Hanson. She finished 13th in the 200 IM as a freshman, 3rd in the 200 free, 2nd in the 500 free as a sophomore. This year as a junior she won the 200 free and took 3rd in the 100 free. Clare has a 3.9 GPA.

John Culver (Iowa) competes in the sport of swimming at Dowling Catholic High School for Coach Nicholas Spike. He placed twice in his state swimming championships this year, taking 4th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Backstroke. John has a 4.0 GPA.

Jack Darling (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Masconomet Regional High School for Coach Todd Darling. He is a three-time state wrestling champion, winning titles as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Jack had a season record this year of 48-1 and has a current career record of 158-11. He has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #63 in his class of 294 students.

Landon Davis (Oregon) competes in the sport of wrestling at Sprague High School for Coach Nolan Harris. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 6th as a sophomore and 2nd as a junior. Landon’s career record to date is 98-32. He has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #104 in his class of 375 students.

William Diehl (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Science Hill High School for Coach Jimmy Miller. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a sophomore and 1st this year as a junior. William had a season record of 56-3 and has a current career record of 133-26. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked in the top 5% of his class. He would like to continue his wrestling career in college.

Stephen Fatz (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at South Stokes High School for Coaches Chad Amos and Lee Lawson. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 5th as a sophomore and 1st this year as a junior. Stephen had a season record this year of 37-7 and has a current career record of 92-37. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #1 in his class.

Cian Fischer (Wisconsin) competes in the sport of wrestling at Weyauwega-Fremont High School for Coach Richard Fischer. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a freshman, 4th as a sophomore, and 2nd this year as a junior. Cian had a season record this year 0f 45-4 and has a current career record of 132-12. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #10 in his class of 82 students.

Kekana Fouret (Idaho) competes in the sport of wrestling at Columbia High School for Coach Todd Cady. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 5th as a freshman and winning the title in both his sophomore and junior years. Kekana had a season record this year of 48-6 and has a current career record of 121-30. He has a 3.6 GPA and is in the top 22% of his class.

Sydney Gillham (Arkansas) competes in the sports of Track, Volleyball and Basketball at Hoxie High School for Coach Jeremy Parmer (Track). She has been named 1st Team All-State in both Volleyball and Basketball for her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #1 in her class. Her future plans include being a pre-med major and playing basketball in college.

Tyler Glynn (New Hampshire) competes in the sport of wrestling at Central Catholic High School for Coach James Durkin. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 2nd as a freshman, 1st as a sophomore, and 2nd this year as a junior. Tyler had a season record this year of 43-7 and has a current career record of 143-18. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked in the top 10% of his class. His future plans are to study Computer Engineering.

Ben Harris (North Carolina) competes in the sport of soccer at Newton Conover High School for Coach Angelo Palozzi. His team finished in the top 8 his freshman and sophomore years and won the state title this year. Ben has a 4.0 and is ranked #2 in his class. His future plans are to study Sports Management and Finance in college.

Hannah Hocom (California) competes in the sport of girls’ basketball at Aptos High School for Coach Stefan Hocom. She was named All-State her sophomore year. Hannah has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #21 in her class of 352 students.

Jason Kaiser, Jr (Virginia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Brooke Point High School for Coaches Nick Perelli and Jake Johnson. He placed 3rd in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 29-7. His current career record is 64-16. Jason has a 4.0 GPA and is currently ranked #6 in his class of 407 students. His future plans are to attend the US Naval Academy.

Chloe Laureano (Florida) competes in the sport of soccer at American Heritage School Plantation for Coach Cindy Marcial. Her team was crowned state champions her sophomore year. Chloe has a 4.0 GPA and has made a commitment to Yale University.

Josiah Lauver (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of swimming at Bishop McDevitt High School for Coach Kurt Sprowls. He placed 5th in 100 Back and 5th in his 200 Medley Relay his freshman year and was named All-State. His sophomore year he placed 5th in the 200 Free, 3rd in the 100 Back, and 3rd in his 200 Free Relay and was named All-State again. This year as a junior he placed 1st in the 200 Free, 1st in the 100 Back, 5th in his 200 Medley Relay and 5th in the 400 Free Relay. Again he was named All-State. Josiah has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #44 in his class of 197 students.

Alex Lemieux (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of indoor track and field at Algonquin Regional High School for Coach Andrew Boschetto. This year he was the state champion in the High Jump jumping 6’6”. Alex has a 3.7 GPA and would like to major in Engineering in college.

Kathryn Lyons (California) competes in the sport of water polo at Miramonte High School for Coach Lance Morrison. Her team won the Northern California Section title in both her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. They also won the CIF Northern California state title this year. She has scored a total of 99 goals. Kathryn has a 3.9 GPA and is in the top 5% of her class. She hopes to play Division I Water Polo in college.

Celia Macari (Rhode Island) competes in the sport of softball at Moses Brown School for Coach Peter DeStefano. Her softball team placed 2nd in the state championships (D2) her freshman year and she was named 3rd Team All-State that year. The team finished 2nd in the D1 state championships last year. Celia has a 3.7 GPA and her future plans are to major in Clinical Research in Healthcare Science and to continue her softball career in college.

Daniel McClung (Oregon) competes in the sport of wrestling at Sprague High School for Coach Nolan Harris. He is a three time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a freshman, and 2nd as a sophomore and junior. His career record to date is 105-19. Daniel has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked #48 in his class of 375 students.

Sean McCormick (Nevada) competes in the sport of wrestling at Churchill County High School for Coach Trevor deBraga. He is a three-time state champion, taking the title as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. Sean had a season record this year of 55-4 and has a current career record of 138-17. He has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #12 in his class. His future plans are to attend the Air Force Academy.

Rhett McDurmon (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at the Darlington School for Coach Kelly McDurmon. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 2nd his freshman and sophomore year and 1st this year as a junior. Rhett had a season record this year of 34-1 and has a current career record of 89-14. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #8 in his class of 136 students. He would like to attend a DIII college for engineering and to continue his wrestling career.

Chance McLane (Montana) competes in the sport of wrestling at Bozeman High School for Coach Nate Laslovich. Chance is a three-time state place finisher, taking 1st as a freshman, 3rd as a sophomore, and 1st this year as a junior. He had a season record this year of 45-3 and a current career record of 129-8. Chance has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #161 in his class of 485 students.

Riley Parker (Virginia) competes in the sport of wrestling at First Colonial High School for Coach Rodney Johnson. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 5th as a sophomore and 1st as a junior. Riley had a 28-0 season record this year and has a current career record of 106-20. He has a 4.0 GPA and would like to continue to wrestle in college at a highly academic university.

Joey Perkins (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Masconomet Regional High School for Coach Todd Darling. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 7th as a freshman, 2nd as a sophomore and 3rd this year as a junior. Joey had a 47-7 season record this year and has a current career record of 132-28. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #7 in his class of 294. His future plans are to attend an Ivy League University.

Tristan Plant (Virginia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Oscar Smith High School for Coach Donald Motley. He placed 4th this year as a junior and had a season record of 25-5. Tristan has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #56 in his class of 445 students. He would like to continue his wrestling career at a four-year college.

Cooper Ross (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at South Stokes High School for Coaches Chad Amos and Lee Lawson. He took 2nd in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 28-14. Cooper has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #21 in his class.

Sydney Sherman (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of swimming at Villa Maria Academy for Coach Sonya Whitman. She took 5th in her state championships in 50 Freestyle her sophomore year and this year her relay was 1st in the 200 Free Relay, 1st in the Medley Relay, and she took 4th in 50 Freestyle. Sydney has a 4.0 GPA and she would like to further her education studying math or science.

Harrison Spikes (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Mountain View High School for Coach Jim Gassman. He was a state wrestling champ this year as a junior. Harrison had a season record this year of 41-5 and has a current career record of 123-26. He has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #103 in his class of 561 students.

Garrett Starks (South Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Woodmont High School for Coach Robert Base. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a sophomore and 3rd as a junior. Garrett had a season record this year of 44-3 and has a current career record of 146-20. He has a 3.7 GPA and is currently ranked #31 in his class of 195 students. He hopes to pursue Pre-Med in college.

Hayden Walker (Wyoming) competes in the sport of wrestling at Kemmerer High School for Coach Steve Walker. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a freshman and 1st as both a sophomore and junior. Hayden had a season record this year of 49-2 and has a current career record of 133-17. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #1 in his class. He will attend the University of Wyoming upon graduation.

Noah Witt (Pennsylvania) competes in the sport of swimming at State College Area High School for Coach Marion Ulmer. He placed 6th in the 100 Backstroke this year at his state swimming championships. Noah has a 3.9 GPA.

Colton Woods (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at the Darlington School for Coach Bryan Kelley McDurmon. He is a three-time state champion, winning titles as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Colton had a season record this year of 38-1 and has a current career record of 104-5. He has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #51 in his class of 122 students. His future plans are to attend the Air Force Academy.

Ali Blanchard (Rhode Island) competes in the sport of softball at Moses Brown School for Coach Peter DeStefano. Her softball team placed 2nd her sophomore year in the D2 state championships and 2nd in the D1 championships this year. Ali was named 1st Team All-State in 2017. She has a 3.9 GPA and her future plans are to attend Princeton University where she will compete in softball.

Riley Bennington (West Virginia) competes in the sport of girls’ basketball at Wheeling Central Catholic High School for Coach Penn Kurtz. She was named to the State Champion All-Tournament Team this year as a senior. Riley has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #29 in her class. Her future plans are to attend West Liberty University on a softball scholarship and study Speech Pathology.

Mason Berges (Arizona) competes in the sport of basketball at Blue Ridge High School for Coach Darryl Suber. His sophomore year he was named 2nd Team All-State, 1st Team All-State his junior year and 1st Team All-State his senior year. He was also named state Player of the Year. Mason has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #5 in his class.

Cory Braddy (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Vidalia High School for Coach James Ferry. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 6th as a junior and 4th this year as a senior. Cory had a season record this year of 48-12 and had a career record of 137-46. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #19 in his class of 169 students.

Jordan Breadmore (Florida) competes in the sport of softball at Bishop Verot Catholic High School for Coach Pablo Plaza. Her team won the state championships in 2017. Jordan has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked #28 in her class of 152 students. Her future plans are to attend Florida State University to pursue a nursing degree.

Madison Clinger (Florida) competes in the sport of softball at Bishop Verot Catholic High school for Coach Pablo Plaza. Her softball team won the state championship in 2017. Madison has a 3.8 GPA and is currently ranked #15 in her class of 152 students. Her future plans are to attend college to study neuroscience.

Josh Cole (Ohio) competes in the sport of men’s tennis at Upper Arlington High School for Coach Will Thieman. He won the state title his junior year. Josh has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked in the top 20% of his class.

Paige Eddington (Missouri) competes in the sport of softball at Doniphan High School for Coach Brad Eddington. She was named All-State her sophomore, junior and senior years. Paige has a 4.2 GPA and is currently ranked #1 in her class of 79 students. Her future plans are to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello to play softball and would then like to attend medical school.

 

Derek Giallombardo (Michigan) competes in the sport of wrestling at Gaylord High School for Coaches Jerry LaJoie and Dominick Giallombardo.  He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a sophomore and a junior and winning the state title this year as a senior.  Derek had a season record this year of 55-3 and a career record of 207-14.  He has a 3.6 GPA and is ranked #75 in his class of 218 students.  Derek will attend Ohio University.


Gatsby Garman-Davis (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Science Hill High School for Coach Jon Renner. He finished 4th in his wrestling state championships his junior year. Gatsby has a 3.6 GPA. He will attend East Tennessee State University.

Theresa George (Missouri) competes in the sport of swimming at Villa Duchesne High School for Coach Conor Murphy. She placed 3rd in the 100 Fly, 9th in the 200 Medley Relay, 6th in 100 Back and 7th in 200 Free Relay this year as a senior. Theresa has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #3 in her class of 314 students.

Kade Grigsby (Idaho) competes in the sport of wrestling at Columbia High School for Coach Todd Cady. He is a 4-time state place finisher, taking 5th as a freshman, 2nd as a sophomore, 1st as a junior and 4th as a senior. Kade’s season record this year was 22-7 and his career record was 164-32. He has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #59 in his class of 311 students.

Gavin Grime (Ohio) competes in the sport of wrestling at Archbold High School for Coach Brian Becher. He placed 8th in his state wrestling championships in 2017 and won the state title this year as a senior. Gavin had a 57-1 season record this year and a career record of 182-42. He has a 3.6 GPA and is currently ranked #28 in his class of 103 students. His future plans are to attend the University of Toledo and major in political science.

Matthew Haist (Michigan) competes in the sport of Ice Hockey at Eisenhower High School for Coach Robert Hall. He was named All-State in both his junior and senior year. This year Matthew scored 41 goals and has a career 74 goals. Matthew has a 3.6 GPA and will attend Michigan State University.

Adam Henderson (Arizona) competes in the sport of wrestling at Blue Ridge High School for Coach Travis Sorenson. He was a three-time state champion, taking the title as a sophomore, junior and senior. Adam had a season record this year of 63-0 and a career record of 202-15. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #1 in his class. He will attend Arizona State University.

Christian Hernandez (Texas) competes in the sport of wrestling at Bel Air High School for Coach Alejandro Carrillo. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a sophomore and winning the title in both his junior and senior year. Christian had a season record this year of 47-3 and a career record of 94-12. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #58 in his class of 432 students. Christian will attend American University and will double major in Film and Media Arts/Business Language and Cultural Arts.

Jude Lloyd (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Elkin High School for Coaches Perry Lloyd and Josh Stanley. He is a four-time state place finisher, taking 2nd as a freshman, 3rd as a sophomore, 2nd as a junior and 1st as a senior. Lloyd had a season record this year of 47-0 and a career record of 152-14. He has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked in the top 10% of his class.

Jim Kalogeros (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Science Hill High School for Coach Jimmy Miller. He placed 5th in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 41-17 with a career record of 85-51. Jim has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked in the top 20% of his class.

Miah Kline (Texas) competes in the sport of girls’ wrestling at Bel Air High School for Coach Alejandro Carrillo. She finished 3rd in her state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 30-4 with a career record of 88-24. Miah has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #9 in her class of 432 students. Her future plans are to secure a Doctorate in Medicine.

Devon Lis (New Jersey) competes in the sport of girls’ soccer at Princeton High School for Coach Valerie Rodriguez. She was named All-State in both her junior and senior year. Devon has a 4.0 GPA and will continue her education at Georgetown where she will also play soccer.

Colette Marciano (New Jersey) competes in the sport of girls’ soccer at Princeton High School for Coach Valerie Rodriguez. She was named All-State this year as a senior. Colette has a 3.9 GPA and will continue her education at Columbia University where she will also play soccer.

Denzel Medina (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Science Hill High School for Coach Jimmy Miller. He placed 3rd in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 52-10 with a career record of 131-56. Denzel has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked in the top 25% of his class.

Bennett Moudy (Oklahoma) competes in the sport of wrestling at Coweta High School for Coach Ashton Cooper. He is a four-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a freshman, 1st as a sophomore, 2nd as a junior and 2nd this year as a senior. He ended his wrestling career with a record of 141-27. Bennett has a 4.1 GPA and is ranked #11 in his class of 207 students. His future plans are to attend the US Naval Academy where he will also compete in wrestling.

Raymond Joshua Nesbitt (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Ragsdale High School for Coach Lewis Walker. He placed 5th this year in his state wrestling championships and had a season record of 50-9 with a career record of 87-24. Raymond has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #122 in his class of 369 students. He plans to major in engineering.

William Parker (Virginia) competes in the sport of wrestling at Lancaster High School for Coach Craig Oren. He placed 5th this year at his wrestling state championships. William has a 4.3 GPA and is ranked #2 in his class of 91 students. He plans to attend either West Point or Virginia Tech.

Daniel Peede (North Carolina) competes in the sport of wrestling at Pine Forest High School for Coach Charles Daniels. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a junior and winning the title as a senior this year. Daniel had a season record of 45-1 and a career record of 125-30. He has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #7 in his class of 260 students. Daniel will attend the US Military Academy at West Point.

Jack Polhemus (Georgia) competes in the sport of wrestling at The Westminster Schools for Coach Robert Hayes. He placed 5th in his state wrestling championships this year and had a season record of 46-10 with a career record of 143-63. Jack has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #33 in his class. He will attend Vanderbilt University.

Julia Roman (Pennsylvania) competes in the sports of Volleyball and Softball at Freedom High School for Coach Donna Roman. Her junior year she was named 1st Team All-State outfielder in Softball. In her senior year she was named 1st Team 4A All State in Volleyball. Julia has a 3.7 GPA and is ranked #50 in her class of 487 students. She will attend Drexel University where she will study Biomedical Engineering and play softball.

Max Sotka (Maryland) competes in the sport of wrestling at Glenelg High School for Coach Matt Bichner. He is a two-time state place finisher, taking 2nd as a junior and winning the state title this year as a senior. Max had a season record this year of 35-7 and a career record of 137-41. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #53 in his class of 270 students.

Grant Speer (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Notre Dame High School for Coach Rocco Mansueto. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 5th as a sophomore and 3rd as both a junior and senior. Grant had a season record this year of 26-5 and a career record of 105-35. He has a 4.0 GPA.

Benjamin Stratton (Connecticut) competes in the sport of wrestling at Platt High School for Coach Bryan McCarty. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a sophomore, 2nd as a junior and winning the title as a senior. Benjamin had a season record this year of 43-2 and a career record of 129-30. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #26 in his class. He will attend Western Carolina University.

Jeffrey Suschana (Connecticut) competes in the sport of wrestling at Somers High School for Coach Scott Zachary. He is a three-time state place finisher, taking 3rd as a sophomore and winning the state title as both a junior and senior. Jeffrey had a season record this year of 44-1 and a career record of 151-25. He has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #35 in his class. He will attend Western New England University.

Tyler Swanbeck (Maine) competes in the sport of soccer at Hebron Academy for Coach Kurt Swanbeck. His soccer team won the New England Championships in soccer for the last two years. Tyler has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked in the top 10% of his class.

Nichole Swink (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Science Hill High School for Coach Jon Renner. She is a two-time state place finisher, taking 6th in both her junior and senior year. Nichole has a 3.9 GPA and will attend Niagara University.

Elizabeth Treece (Tennessee) competes in the sport of wrestling at Science Hill High School for Coach Jon Renner. She is a two-time state place finisher, taking 6th as a junior and 4th as a senior this year. Elizabeth has a 3.6 GPA and will attend the Naval Academy Preparatory School upon graduation.


Mallory Volz (Florida) competes in the sport of softball at Bishop Verot Catholic High School for Coach Pablo Plaza. Her softball team was crowned state champions her sophomore year. Mallory has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #4 in her class of 152 students. Her future plans are to study biomedical engineering in college.

Conner Wilson (Texas) competes in the sport of wrestling at Allen High School for Coach Jerry Best. He placed 4th in his state wrestling championships this year as a senior. Conner had a season record of 29-7 and a career record of 145-30. Conner has a 3.8 GPA and has plans to study Chemical Engineering to get a degree in Global Management in college.

Cole Wyman (Massachusetts) competes in the sport of wrestling at Brockton High School for Coach DeShawn Fentress. He is a four-time state place finisher, taking 4th as a freshman, and winning the state title his sophomore, junior and senior year. Cole had a season record this year of 47-4 and a career record of 194-19. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #3 in his class of 950 students. He will attend West Point.

Artur Zigman (Texas) competes in the sport of tennis at Memorial High School for Coach Budd Booth. He is a four-time state place finisher in his state tennis championships, taking 2nd his freshman, sophomore, and junior years and winning the state title his senior year. Artur has a 3.9 GPA and is ranked #25 in his class.
