Young Guns, NJ Scorpions, & Ohio Titans Victorious at the 2015 NHSCA National Duals!

The record breaking 16th Annual NHSCA National Duals showcased 305 teams with wrestlers hailing from 30 states and Canada. The Duals boasted its largest event ever and was loaded with talent as many of the nation’s elite wrestlers were there to compete.

Nearly 5,000 wrestlers flocked to Virginia Beach, Virginia this past weekend as the record breaking NHSCA Duals were held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center where the wrestling was showcased on 46 mats. The monumental 3-day event kicked of Saturday, May 23rd and concluded Monday afternoon as 3 clubs were deemed the National Champions in their respective divisions.

In the High School division, the field boasted 149 teams. The perennial powerhouses all had the title within their grasp but it was Pittsburgh’s own Young Guns Black and NY Kong that went toe to toe in the finals in a real nail biter, as the championship match came down to ultimate ride out in heavyweight for Young Guns Black to pull it out. Job Chisko and Devin Brown kicked off the match with two wins for Young Guns Black. NY Kong went to win the next four matches with an upset at 138 where Jesse Delveccia knocked off #4 AC Headlee. Young Guns came back with a decision from Sam Krivus and two majors from #1 Michael Kemerer and #15 Kaleb Young.  Jordon Bushey knocked off Jake Shaffer with a fall to put NY Kong up by 1 team point. Wins by Kellan Stout and Drew Phipps put Young Guns Black back into the lead going into the last two matches. Kong’s Devin Rockroth won a 5-1 decision over Jacob Robb at 220 to bring NY Kong within 1 point. It call came down to the heavyweight match and Jake Beistel was victorious in the ultimate ride out for Young Guns Black to take the match 26-21.

To finish up the top 5 High School teams, Nauman Select came in 3rd place and Shore Thing Surf took 4th.  Prestige World Wide VA finished 5th with a win over South Florida Lightning.

The Middle School division featured 91 teams but it was NJ Scorpions Blue and NJ Scorpions Red who were at the leaderboard. Finishing 3rd in the MS Division was Intense SOB where Coach Jeff Buxton led his wrestlers to a victory over Young Guns Blue 36-30. Illinois Outsiders knocked off Illinois Menace to claim the 5th place finish.

In the Elementary division was comprised of a total of 66 teams. It was an Ohio finals as the  Ohio Titans Scarlet was victorious over Battlezone Black in a thrilling 33-31 match. The NJ Scorpions Red rolled over OMP 49-21 in the 3rd place match while Team Nauman knocked off Illinois Orange for the 5th place finish.
