The National High School Coaches Association (“NHSCA”) is pleased to announce Abby Loveys of Randolph High School in Randolph, New Jersey as its National Senior Girls’ Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

Loveys may be one of New Jersey’s best all-time all-around runners. This past year, the Princeton-bound runner broke a 36-year old state record in 3,200-meters with a time of 10-minutes, 10.24 seconds. She closed-out her scholastic career with a second place finish in New Jersey’s Meet of Champions in the 1,600, a title she won as a junior.

In the Fall, Loveys won the Cross Country Meet of Champions with a time of 17 minutes, 54 seconds. She then finished 11th at the Foot Locker Cross Country national championships, earning All-American honors.

In the classroom, Loveys owns a 4.22 grade point average.

“Abby is an excellent example what this award stands for,” said Eric Hess, Executive Director of the NHSCA. “She has excelled as much in the classroom as she has on the track. We congratulate her on an outstanding high school career and wish her success at Princeton University.”

Loveys is the first New Jersey athlete to win the NHSCA Senior Girls’ Track and Field Athlete of the Year Award.

Throughout the 2018-19 sports season, the NHSCA has been announcing the Athlete of the Year honorees in 20 boys’ and girls’ sports. This marks the 20th consecutive year the NHSCA has honored achievers within the high school athletic community nationwide.

Each of the honorees will receive a beautiful plaque. In addition, the Athlete of the Year honoree will be displayed in the National High School Digital Sports Hall of Fame that is currently under development.
