Thanks for the e-mail Melissa. You guys put on an outstanding tournament. I went through most of the meetings (strenght training, building a successful program, and the technique sessions). It was awesome! Our kids had a great time. One of them went 1-2 and the other 3-2. They were both invited out to dinner by the head wrestling coach from Oklahoma City University (Archie Randall). Coach Randall is very interested in these guys so that made the trip that much more exciting. Melissa, thank you again for allowing me to be the Texas State Rep. It was a good experience for me.
Have a great day,

Thank you very much for putting together a coaches package for me at Senior
Nationals last week and for emailing me a database. The tournament was great
and well ran. As a first year college coach I have found your database to be
very helpful.

We attended the Virginia Beach Nationals this year and loved
it. I plan to attend each year from here on out. I am enquiring
about what I need to do to start an official Team Ohio to
enter this tournament. I noticed that many states had official
team coaches and I would like to do the same for Ohio. My
club alone brought 10 wrestlers this year with 4 placing.
Please pass along any information that might help get this
thing started for Team Ohio.
Thank you,

Mr. Ferraro, I wanted you to know how much I appreciated your
naming me an academic all-american. Its made my parents very
proud of me. Also I know it will help me a lot for college
recruiting. I also want to thank you for providing folkstyle
state and national tournaments these last few years. Freestyle,
which is all I had growing up didn't really help us on top
and bottom. Thanks for giving us folkstylers an opportunity
to improve. I"m sorry school prevented me from doing
the Junior nationals - but I do hope to meet you next year
at Senior nationals.

Thank you for a memorable lifetime experience. The event was
flawless. And thank you again for having a special weigh-in
for my son, Ryan. I wish you and yours the very best!
I went to the picture frame store to have Ryan's All -American
certificate framed. The owner suggested that for the price
I was paying, it would look better if I was able to get his
name printed in bold letters on the certificate. He said he
would be able to do it. Thank you again........

that AWESOME EVENT ! Joe, I don't know them personally--but
I hope YOU do. I'm depending on you to PLEASE THANK each and
every one of the people involved!! The officiating was GREAT--my
son and I watched a lot of matches and your OFFICIALS were
very professional--the best we've seen ANYWHERE! Bruce didn't
make it to the top 8---but it did not deter us from wanting
to be there next year. I will be bragging about how great
your event was and how professional everyone there was!

We have been all over the country the last 12 months with
our son's wrestling. We wanted to take just a moment
to let you know that the Open was one of the best run tournaments
we have been at all year. It was clear each day which
bouts were to be wrestled and we could gauge what time of
day the bouts would be wrestled. The Virginia Beach
setting was awesome as we built our family vacation around
the NHSCA wrestling tournament. We are already making
plans for next year to come back. Thanks for a great
tournament and great wrestling!

dear steve,
thank you for the excellent work you did in organizing the
final four of high school wrestling. your knowledge
of the sport and your personal attention to details were evident
in its flawless implementation. on another day our team's
performance may have been a little better, but your nhsca

dear bob,
thank you for the invitation and hosting the nhsca final
four of high school wrestling. with blair, easton, and
saint paris-graham rounding out the field, we knew that we
were in for a battle! although we didn't reach our goal,
many of our kids wrestled well and the experience is one that
should " temper our steel" as we move on to our regional and
state tournament. your consideration and hospitality,
from the invitation and the coach's social to the final whistle
made our trip an enjoyable experience. please pass on
our thanks to jeanne as well. her assistance with our
transportation and kindness in opening up your home, made
the cold weather seem incidental. we appreciate all
that you, steve, and the others mentioned on your staff have
done for us.

Hello Steve,
I hope all is well. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate
your organization giving Red Bank High School a chance to
host this event. I am in the process of checking the schedule
to make sure I can get a date when there is not a whole lot
going on. I looked over the package and it looks great.
Although my guys did not win very many matches at the pre
season nationals, they learned a great deal from the experience
and we will be back again next year with hopefully even more
wrestlers.
Please advise me as to the month when most of the other state
qualifiers take place. Once you give me a time frame I can
check on the first available date.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Dear Steve
Just wanted to follow-up with you and Bob to let you know
how much I enjoyed working with the staff of NHSCA on the
Pre-Season Wrestling Championship. What a tremendous
event! Everyone that I came in contact with was so enthusiastic
and excited about being in Winston-Salem. Your organization
does such a wonderful job in organizing and making sure all
the components are in place. From the coaches, vendors,
competitors and their families, everyone was just wonderful
to be around. And I have to tell you how much I
enjoyed my time with Kyle Maynard. It was truly
a blessing for me to meet Kyle and his family and I
have enjoyed sharing pictures and comments about Kyle with
my friends and coworkers. He is certainly an inspiration
to anyone!
I look forward to working with NHSCA for many more events
in the future.

Hi Steve, I may have sent this undone once. sorry!
I really enjoyed the tournament this past weekend. There were
many reasons that I enjoyed being at the event. You and the
rest of the administrative staff were friendly and efficient.
I felt very comfortable during the whole event. The other
officials were great to watch and talk to. The wrestling was
great with many competitive matches. The coaches were respectful
and knowledgeable.
I drove up with Allan Solomon and he feels as I that the event
was a good one. We both would like to be invited to the event
in cleveland at the end of march as well as the two events
in June. I hope you had positive feedback about my officiating
from coaches, officials and from when you may have watched
some of the matches that I did. Thanks for allowing me the
opportunity to do the event.
I loved it!

The NHSCA National Wrestling Duals is an outstanding event
that continues to get better every year. The level of competition
is excellent, and all of my wrestlers competed in 5-8 matches.
as an example, one of my state champions wrestled a 2 time
state champion, a 1 time state champion, and 2 state runner
ups. The folk style dual meet atmosphere creates a lot of
energy and excitement. That makes it a unique event. The NHSCA
is committed to improving the duals every year and this event
will only grow and get bigger.

Hello and good morning,
I am a young baseball coach for a local small private school
at the high school level. And since I have been referring
to your website www.nhsca.com as of a few years ago I have
found the site to be most helpful. So for that, I wanted to
first say thank you for putting this very informative site
together for us coaches. There is something that I noticed
on the site that I would appreciate if it could be improved
on a bit. I notice that most of the information regarding
tips for coaches, strength and conditioning, diet and nutrition
etc. have been directed to most of the other sports such as
wrestling and have been leaving out "BASEBALL" If
you could begin to add in these tips for the coaches of baseball,
it sure would be appreciated. Thank you, and thanks again
for the website and all the wisdom that you and other contributors
have given to the site.

My wife and I have driven up to Easton each of the last three
years for the Final Four, and would make the following observations
and ask the forum readers a few questions.
First, we noticed a large number of out-of-town fans this
year, including many who had driven or even flown in from
states other than PA or nearby New Jersey. Was very interesting
to chat with these hard-core wrestling fans, many of whom
were there to see Great Bridge and Blair. (Impressive to see
so many fans at the 10 AM session that featured Great Bridge
Vs Blair.)
With the year-in, year-out Easton -- Blair backyard rivalry,
and with the prominence of these two programs, the Final Four
has a built in two-state fan base and exceptional local media
coverage, especially from the Express Times, which has made
itself sort of an Easton and northern New Jersey newspaper.
Bottom line: The Final Four is the closest thing to a legitimate
national dual meet H S championship that we have.
Quetion 1: Wonder if it's time for them to expand to eight
teams?
Question 2: Wonder if it's also time for the backward states
to loossen their travel policies for special events such as
the Final Four. (Has anyone noticed that in some regions of
the USA, high school girls basketball teams get to travel
farther than wrestling teams?)
Question 3: Who do the readers feel was the best wrestler
at the Final Four?
Question 4: What was the single biggest upset at the Final
Four?

Steve Pados:
THANK YOU and the NHSCA for changing
the eligibility weights for the
Senior National High School Wrestling Tournament. My
son separated a
shoulder two years ago at this event, wrestling an individual
who wrestled
at least one weight class lower than his certified state tournament
weight.
In the past, senior wrestlers had ample time to eat and gain
strength before
the tournament began, and weighed considerably more than at
weigh-ins.
Wrestling is an awesome sport, and this rule change will result
in a true
Senior National Champ at their official weight class.
Kudos to you and the NHSCA staff,

Steve,
I wanted to compliment you and your team on another great
NHSCA wrestling event this past weekend in North Carolina.
The overall tournament was run very well and your team did
a tremendous job the entire weekend. Everyone was very
helpful and friendly which made the event a great experience.
We appreciate you listening to the coaches and competitors
comments from past events to continually improve each event.
The level of competition was great for a pre-season tournament
with state champs and state placers in most of the weight
classes. Each competitor will benefit from their experience
at the NHSCA pre-season tournament during the upcoming season.
We look forward to attending future NHSCA wrestling events.

Bob,
Thanks for the reply. I never receieved anything from our
building principal with regard to the coaches certification
program. Hypothetically speaking... if the information is
no longer available at our school, how would I go about obtaining
information to participate in the coaches certification program?
I am more than happy to sign up our coaching staff (and pay
a fee)
for this program during the summer. Can I have another packet
of information sent to our principal's office or athletic
director? If information is provided to me, then I would be
more than happy to register the coaches myself.
Also, thank you for creating the NHSCA. This was my first
year as a member and I am impressed with your organization
thus far. This was also the first year my wrestlers participated
in a State Open Qualifier, and then recently at the National
Open Championships in Virginia. Our wrestlers had a great
experience being introduced to nation-wide competition. John
Hnath who officiated at the event, and is also one of our
youth wrestling coaches, also speaks very highly of yourself
and the people associated with the organization. Thank you
for taking the time to answer my questions about the certification
program, and I look forward to eventually reviewing the materials.

Thanks for the opportunity to officiate in the NHSCA Open
Tournament in Norfolk, VA. The wrestling was some of the best
I have seen and the different levels this year. I learned
from some of the other very good officials that were there
also. I would like to take this time to put my name in for
next year's meet and also the Senior Nationals. I am always
trying to work at the best contest I can and give back to
the sport which has given me so much. If needed there are

have expressed an interest and desire in working at this level
for the NHSCA.

Steve,
We just returned from Norfolk where we attended the
National State Wrestling Duals. We enjoyed it immensely.
The quality of the competition was of the highest caliber,
and the organization excellent. The spirit of the event
was exemplary, with a sense of comraderie amongst the teams
and coaches. There was a notable absence of rude behavior
often seen at such events. We brought down 1 team from
Southeast Pennsylvania, and I know the coaches are planning
on bringing 3 down next year.
Thank you for sponsoring such an enjoyable and worthwhile
event.

Dear Steve,
I just wanted to congratulate you and the N.H.S.C.A.
staff for a great Senior National wrestling tournament. My
wife and I were unable to attend however, we had a long talk
with our son Tom Curl and his coach Vern Zellner. There are
two things that are most important at a national tournament
such as the Senior Nationals; 1) it enables a young man to
test his abilities against the best our country has to offer;
2)it prepares the Senior wrestlers for college wrestling.
One of the fringe benefits of the Senior Nationals is the
interaction of the wrestlers in a non-competitive environment.
The stories our son told us about meeting wrestlers form other
parts of the country and the good times they shared will stay
with us always. Once again thanks for a great tournament.

We talked on the telephone several months ago when I was trying
to purchase a ticket for the Senior Nationals in Cleveland.
Part of our discussion centered around my team, Great Bridge,
Michael and David Martin, and various and sundry other wrestling
topics. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with you, but I really
wanted to get back to you and thank you for the ticket I received.
You not only gave me the aisle seat I requested due to my
bladder condition, but also managed to set me up in an ideal
viewing location.
The tournament was a superb display of high school wrestling,
and I was captivated by every second of it. Your team of organizers
put on a great show, and I was proud to be a part of it as
a fan. I can't say enough about the dedication and hard work
on the part of every wrestler in attendance, and your tournament
certainly provided a setting worthy of the amazing talents
of these fine, young men. I thought about trying to see you
at the tournament, but after hearing your name called out
numerous times over the announcing system for a multitude
of reasons, I realized how busy you must have been and decided
not to intrude on your valuable time.
Hope you agree that Great Bridge definitely made a statement.
We're so very proud of our champions and, in fact, all of
our wrestlers.
Perhaps our paths will cross again. Thank you so much for
helping me out and for all you do for high school wrestling.

Just wanted to let all of you know that we were very impressed
with the organization of the tournament. We felt we
had never been to a better run wrestling match ever
!!! The timely manner in which the bouts were called was
exceptional !!!!! I know it took many months planning and
a lot of hard work of many people involved. Please tell
those involved in the planning of the event how much
we appreciated the excellent run organization of it.
I was only disappointed in the fact that I was unable to buy
a program. I wanted so badly to have one to take home
to South Carolina to show relatives and coaches. Please
could you tell me if any of left over or available for
purchase.....at ANY PRICE !!! We pre-ordered our tickets and
t shirts and thought we had everything covered. If you
find that we could get a program, we sure would appreciate
it.
Thank you once again for giving my son the opportunity to
participate in such a first class tournament. Even though
he lost up there, he truly enjoyed himself. He enjoyed
meeting other wrestlers and watching the level of competition
from around the nation.
Thank you again.

I wanted to personally thank the NHSCA for one of the most
outstanding opportunities for high school seniors in the country.

you provide these young men.

I like the write-up you folks put together and show on your
website for the results of Sunday's Final Four.
Having been the Scouting Director of Baseball's Baltimore
Orioles back in the 1970's, I particularly liked your comment
about Blair turning the Easton match over to "the nation's
best set of closers."
Yes, I'd put Blair's Palmer, Backes and Maciag right up there
with the Yankees' Mendoza, Stanton and Rivera. (In fact, after
the 9th inning of the 7th game of the most recent World Series,
maybe George Steinbrenner would prefer Blair's closers to
his.)

Bob,
Two days ago as I researched the NHSCA internet site to find
past NHSCA's Srs tourney placewinners, I came across your
write up on why and how you set the annual seniors tourney
(and NHSCA itself) in motion.
How very singular and impressive that you identified the need,
visualized the solution, and then personally made the vision
reality.
When I read through the lists of the NHSCA tourney's great
participants I was doubly impressed. Cael Sanderson, Cary
Kolat, Chris Bono (same year, same wt as Kolat), Eric Guerrero,
Steve Abas....just to name a few. Heck, you could field your
own world-class international team. And to think, it all started
with the genuine concerns of one dedicated wrestling father.
To offer congratulations on what you've done is hardly sufficient
to cover the magnitude of your accomplishment.
Look forward to meeting you in January.
Regards,
Dave Ritterpusch

I'm sorry your event isn't returning to The BOB next
year. I was looking forward to working with you guys this
coming school year. Your tournament and your staff was first
class and we will truly miss both. Hopefully, down the road
we will be able to work together. I will alwaysconsider you
a friend and until then take care. PS.....Cleveland should
have made you a terrific deal because they will be getting
a great event with unbelievable organizers. Good luck!!!!!

Sir,
My son recently competed in the NHSCA Open Champ. in Birmingham.
We enjoyed
the tournament so much that we would like to make early reservations
to
compete in the NHSCA Preseason Tour. before next season. Do
You have dates
yet for that event and will it also be held in Birmingham?
Thank you for
your time and consideration. Irish39955@aol.com

Bob,
I wanted to take a quick moment to thank you for allowing
me the opportunity to participate in the recruiting seminar
last night. I enjoyed it and truly hope that the student-athletes
and parents in attendance received valuable information. I
also wanted to thank you for your hospitality and for making
me feel so welcome. I appreciate it and look forward to working
with you and Steve in the very near future.
I will come back on Friday and address the young lady golfers
on Friday evening and let you know how it went when I talk
to you next week.
Thanks again, and also, a BIG THANKS for the shirt. It is
truly appreciated!
Yours in Sports,

Hi Mr. Ferraro:
I wanted to thank your organization for awarding Matt McDonald
the "Swimmer of the Year" award for high school
boys. You are to be commended for your informative website
and outstanding organization.
I am Matt's coach and I want you to know how honored he was.
He was stunned when the award arrived at his house. This has
been a great season for him and he has received some nice
awards, but yours was truly the highlight. We are especially
anxious for his bio to be on the website so that we can use
that to coax our local and regional newspapers into some good
coverage of this young man.
Thanks again and please keep up the great work that you are
doing for our young people.
Best regards, Andy Pedersen

Great tournament!
Thank you so very much for having us at your tournament. Everything
went very smoothly and we appreciate all of the work
that your staff did to give everyone such a fine opportunity
to showcase their abilities in a national forum. The
efforts you are making are certainly having a tremendously
positive affect on the youth of this nation and we are proud
to be a part of it. Keep up the good work! Can't wait
to see you again soon.
Sincerely,

Bob,
I would like to personally thank Steve and yourself for the
hospitality you shown towards Team Florida at the recent
National State Duals. The coaching staff and wrestlers
really enjoyed themselves and are all ready discussing
plans for next year. The NHSCA is riding high in Florida.
People are really excited about your organization and
what you are doing for kids.
Thanks again.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff
for running such a fine tournament at the senior nationals.
I take great pride in applauding you for giving us the coaches
and wrestlers the opportunity to wrestle with the best high
school wrestlers in the country. I have been going to the
National Open for the past three years and have found that
it provided my wrestlers with the greatest opportunities for
scholastic competition in the country. My sincere thanks again
to you and your staff for such a fine job.

Bob,
Just wanted to let you know how much all of the wrestling
fans out there appreciate the hard work you've put into bringing
us such an outstanding national wrestling tournament. It's
truly the best show on earth. I wish there hadn't been the
problems with the message board because last year it was great
to be able to have one central location to talk about the
tournament as it unfolded.
