Steve Gaydosh

Steve is currently the wrestling coach at Vestavia Hill High School in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, a position he has held for 33 years. He has led his teams have won 12 State Team Titles. Steve has coached 76 Individual State Champions. He has been selected twice as the AHSAA Coach of the Year and is a member of the AHSAA Hall of Fame



Vern Gillis

Vern has coached since 1990. Over the last few years, he has been helping out at different programs as needed and time permits. Vern works with a handful of schools in the Anchorage School District. He has also been involved with some remote villages and trying to build their programs.

Mike Jurney

Mike Jurney is the head coach at Rocky Ford High School in Rocky Ford, Colorado, a position he’s held since 1990. He has coached 21 State Champions, 39 State finalist, and 88 State medalists. His team has had 17 top 10 State team finishes; 9 in the top 5; 5 in the 3. In 2015, they were the State Team Champions. He has coaches 3 NHSCA All Americans. He was also a 2x CHSCA Coach of the Year and was the 2015 National Wrestling Hall of Fame Colorado Chapter Coach of the Year.  He himself was a 2x high school state medalist and a 3x NAIA National Qualifier for Adams State College.



Ricky Shook

After completing a tremendously successful college wrestling career at Central Connecticut State University, Rick became Danbury High School's Assistant Varsity Coach in 1988. After 11 years in that capacity, Rick assumed the position of Head Coach for the 1999-2000 season. He has continued to guide the team in its winning ways, through the 2013-2014 season posting a 290-16 win/loss record during his tenure as Head Coach, and guiding the team to FCIAC, LL and OPEN team titles in those years. Rick wrestled for Danbury High School and his 58-5 high school win/loss record speaks for itself. Rick was a 2X FCIAC Champion and a State LL Champion in his senior year. In his final year at Central Connecticut State University, Rick was team captain and MVW, posting a 17-10 record en route to a third place finish at 118 pounds in the Division I Eastern Regionals. He also finished third in the Division II Eastern Regionals during his junior year. Rick graduated from Central in 1987, with a B.S. in Management.

Joe Blasucci

Currently Head Wrestling Coach at Somerset Academy in Ft Lauderdale, FL for the past 3 years. 4 State Champions, 6 state placers, 18 SQ finished with 3 Top 10 Finishes at State including 4th and 5th. Prior Asst. Coach Barron Collier HS in Naples, FL, which included 10 State Finalist 8 State Champions the past 7 years. Joe is also Head Coach and Owner of South Florida Lightning Wrestling Club the past 9 years. NHSCA Team All Americans, 6 Top 8 finishes at NHSCA National Duals as well as 6 other AA team finishes at various National competitions. Team Florida Coach 3 years and Team Leader as well as 4 years serving as FAWA(USA Wrestling) Board Member.  He has coached 7 NHSCA AA's. Including Josh Dasilviera JR National Champ 2011 and Scotti Sentes Senior National Champ 2010. 
Joe wrestled for the illustrious Blair Academy in New Jersey and St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Florida.



Dustin Kawa

An Atlanta Georgia native wrestled at NC. State University and is the owner of two wrestling companies. The Wrestling Academy a premier training facility entering its 11th year of business. In 2014 TWA was host to the Cliff Keen Dream Classic, won 2 Super 32 Champions, 3 Fargo Finalists, 6 NHSCA Champions, and 4 Wrestlers ranked #1 or #2 in country. Takedown Sportswear a wrestling apparel company enters its 9th year of business and can be found at major events such as NCAA, Tulsa, Reno World, Disney, & GHSA High School State.




 Jake Scoles 

My collegiate wrestling was at Montana State University-Northern and Boise State University.  Wrestling is a very rewarding sport.  I have been providing personal trainer services and coaching high school athletes’ for 7 years.   I enjoy working with kids of all ages from elementary school and club wrestling to high school and college level athletes.

 Steve Balash

Steve is the head coach at Hobart High School in Hobart, Indiana, a position he has held the last 28 years. He enters his 43rd year coaching at Hobart. Steve is a graduate of Indiana State University. He is married to his wife Jeannie and has two daughters Stefanie and Heather.


 Brett Wheelan

Brett is currently the assistant Coach at Waverly - Shell Rock. He was the previous head coach at Waterloo West High School. He coached his wrestlers to national prominence as a NHSCA Sr National Champion, Junior FS National Champion among other state place winners and a 2x Champion. Brett has also worked as assistant wrestling coach at Loras College. Brett serves as the NE IA coach's representative on the IA/USA Board.



Patrick Naughton

Patrick is the head wrestling coach at Lawrence High School inn Lawrence, Kansas. He has held the position for the last 14 years. Patrick has worked his way up through the Lawrence school system. He is a native of Clive, Iowa.

 James Ballantyne

James is the coach at Assumption High School in Napoleonville, Louisiana. Assumption High School. He is also a math teacher.



Lupe Soto

Lupe is the NHSCA State Rep for Maine. He resides in Pembroke, Maine. He is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida.



Kevin Gilligan

Kevin is the head coach at Huntingtown High School in Huntingtown, Maryland.  Prior to Huntingtown, he was the head coach for many years at Stephen Decatur in Ocean City, Maryland. He is an Ocean City, Maryland native.



Bob Belanger

Bob is a MA State Champion, MA All State Champion, and a two time NCAA D-2 National Qualifier for the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The Head coach at Billerica Memorial High School for the last 11 year. In which, Produced 11 individual State Champions, 2 New England Champions, a NHSCA National Runner up, and multiple D-1 college wrestlers.

Chad Johnson

 I have been a teacher and coach at Sibley East in Arlington, Minnesota.  This is my 21st year of teaching and 25th year coaching.  I live in Nicollet Minnesota with my wife Rachel and my 3 daughters (Autumn, Jessi and Tayler).  I was graduated from Mankato State University in 1993 with a teaching degree in Social Studies and Physical Education.  I wrestled for the Mavericks during my college years.  Besides coaching Wrestling for 25 years, I have been a volleyball, football, baseball, softball and Track coach.



Bob Wilhelm

Bob, along with his brother Ron, head the way for the Lions of Northwest High School in Cedar Hill, Missouri. Bob is a long time supporter of the NHSCA.



Rich Vasquez

Rich is the head wrestling coach at Flathead High School in Kalispell, Montana. Rich is also the head coach of the Kalispell Wrestling Club. He also serves as the USAW Girls Representative.



Todd Porter

I am Head WR Coach @ Bellevue East HS in Class A.  I have been a Head HS Wrestling coach for 33 years, with 2 years at Garden City  (KS) HS; 14 years @ Bishop Carroll Catholic (KS) HS, and the last 17 at Bellevue East (NE) HS.  I wrestled in college on Wayne State's (NE) last team, from 1978-80.  I was a 3 year letter winner and 2 time National Meet Qualifier. I have also coached both football and baseball at the high school level.  I currently am serving as NSWCA Secretary, in my 4th term on the Board. I have been named state Coach of the Year 3 times, 1992; 1997 (both in KS); & 2006 in NE.  I teach American History, lead student groups to Europe every other year, and work as a Drivers Education teacher on the side.  I have been married to wife Betsy 19+ years, with 4 children (Trey, 24; Ashton, 23; Johnny 18;& Hayley 16).

Barry Choolijan

Head Wrestling Coach at Timberlane Regional HS in Plaistow NH for the past 28 years.  National Coach of Year selection in 2010, his teams have captured 22 NH State Championships and 10 New England Championships in his 28 years as head coach.  A 20 year member of the NHIAA Wrestling Committee, and is currently serving as Assistant Chairperson.  He is Past President of the NH Wrestling Coaches Association, and current Secretary Treasurer.

Keith Shields

Retired from high school coaching after 27 years in 2013, at Parkland HS and Glenn HS in North Carolina. Married with two children; still works for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools as an administrator. officiates HS wrestling, along with college and HS baseball. Tournament Director for NHSCA Nationals from 2004-2011; has also helped coordinate many other wrestling events including NHSCA Duals, NHSCA Open, Southern Scuffle and Super 32. Proud NHSCA member since 1998.

Ellis is the head coach at MacArthur High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. He is also a social studies/history teacher for the high school.



Ben Coulter

Ben has been involved in coaching since 1993. He has held the head coach position at Grants Pass High School in Grants Pass, Oregon the past 5 years. He is also a counselor at GPHS.
Ben is also an assistant coach for the Caveman Mat Club.



 Mattie Potter

Mattie is currently on staff at the NHSCA as the Director of Special Programs. She has worked with the organization since her freshman year in college (2002). Mattie was the wrestling manager at Easton Area High School and throughout her tenure at Drexel University. Mattie holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.S. in Education, both from Drexel. She currently resides in Easton, PA with her Boxer, Duke.

Mike Millen, Sr.

Mike is the athletic director and wrestling coach at Narragansett Pier School in Narragansett RI.  He is also a volunteer coach at Narragansett High school and South County Youth Wrestling Club for over a dozen years each.  He was the coach of Chariho High school were he coached RI state and New England Champions. His three sons have all enjoyed wrestling at youth and high school levels.  Mike started on the first wrestling team at Narragansett High under Rich Adham of URI and Long Island fame.  He owes his time and commitment to wrestling to his wife Virginia.

Leon Boulware

 Leon Boulware is the Head Wrestling coach at Nation Ford HS. He’s been a Head HS Wrestling coach for 10 years, with 3 years at Nation Ford HS. He’s married to his wife Malisa with 4 children. Leon has been a part of wrestling all of his life with his father being a high school coach. He’s great motivator and hard worker. Has always produce very competitive dual teams and wrestlers. He’s proud to be a part of the NHSCA!

Jimmy Miller

Jimmy Miller landed on the hill at Science Hill High School in 2007 where he served as assistant wrestling coach until 2011 where he served as co-head coach until 2013. In 2013 Miller was named head wrestling coach of the toppers. In 1993 he started his coaching career as assistant coach at his alma mater Maryville High School for six seasons. After a 1 year stop at Knoxville Webb in 1999, Miller spent seven seasons at Tullahoma High School as both an assistant and head coach before leaving in 2007 for his current position at Science Hill.


Scott Ervin

Scott is the Head Coach at Arlington Bowie High School, located in Arlington, Texas.



Gregg Stensgard

Greg is the current coach at Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah. He has held the position for many years. Gregg is a World Champion, as he took gold at the World Veterans Wrestling Championships in 2012 in Hungary.



 Scott Legacy

Scott is a Physical Education Teacher and Head Wrestling Coach at Mt. Anthony Union High School in Benington, Vermont. Scott is entering his 30th year of coaching, as he began in 1985. He holds a career record 622-35-2. He has led his team to 26 Consecutive Vermont State Championships 1989-Present (National Record for Wrestling). 



 Mark McGowan

Mark is the USA Deaf Wrestling Organization,Inc's National Team Head Coach. He is also the Washington DC Athletic Club Wrestling Coach for both Freestyle and Greco Roman. He is the 53rd Gold Certified Coach through USA Wrestling.



Brent Barnes

Brent is currently the head coach at Lake Stevens High School in Lake Stevens, Washington.Over his 25 season career, he has coaches 8 teams to a state championships. Brent's 2010 team was featured in the documentary "On the Mat" and was the award winner at the Tribeca Film Festival online feature category.

 West Virginia

 Ken Maisel

Ken is the current Head Wrestling Coach at University HS in Morgantown, WV; a position which he has held since 1993. He originally hails from Amityville, NY and graduated from Amityville HS in 1986. Ken wrestled for the Mountaineers of West Virginia University, 1986-1991. He holds a BS in Biology and Health Education and a MS in Community Health Promotions, both from West Virginia University.  Ken is married to Tammy and together they have 3 children: Lauren, Julia, and Nicholas.

 Cody Husher

Cody is the current NHSCA State Rep for Wisconsin.



Tom Seamans 

12 consecutive state championships (16 total at Campbell County High School). He also coached 5 state champion teams at Green River High School (WY) from 1996-1999. He has been the Wyoming Coaches Association Coach of the Year for the last 9 years. He and his wife Janet have three children, Lauren and Julia, both college students and Garrett, a sophomore in high school.

Steve Mytych

Steve is currently the assistant coach at Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pennsylvania. He is also the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Seminary. Steve was a NCAA Qualifier for Drexel University, where he graduated from in 2008. He resides with his wife Crystal and son Steve, Jr.
