Class of 2011 

Trevor Atkins (Texas): Two-time Texas High School LaCrosse League All-State selection for Lake Highlands High School after winning state’s Triple Crown as a junior with 81 goals and 31 assists; scored 120 goals and 40 assists first two seasons. Earned 3.5 GPA, scored 1890 on the SAT (three parts) and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class; will attend Colgate University.

Michael Avena (Connecticut): Class S state runnerup with 29-5 record at 135 pounds for coach Eric Manuel at Old Saybrook High School; two-time state placewinner; two-year record 64-13. Earned 3.63 GPA.

Adrian Dickinson (Idaho): Class 4A state champion with 41-5 record at 189 pounds for coach Todd Cady at Columbia High School; three-time state placewinner; career record 128-25. Earned 3.64 GPA, scored 27 on the ACT and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class.

Jacob Dolifka (Texas): Finished 42-3 and fourth in state at 152 pounds for coach Michael Lowe at Clear Brook High School. Earned 4.88 GPA (of 5.0), scored 1500 on the SAT and 29 on the ACT and ranks in the top 10 percent of his class; will attend the University of Alabama.

Patrick Gillen (Connecticut): Two-time Class LL state champion with 49-0 record at 215 pounds for coach Robert Gillen at Shelton High School; four-time state placewinner; career record 200-14. Outstanding Wrestler in State Open and New England Championships. Finished second in National High School Seniors Championships; seventh in National High School Juniors Championships; fourth in National High School Sophomores Championships; third in National High School Freshman Championships. Earned 3.55 GPA and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class; will attend the University of Virginia.

Christopher Giunta (Connecticut): Class LL state runnerup with 34-9 record at 215 pounds for coach Kevin Lippert at Staples High School; career record 91-57. Earned 3.89 GPA, scored 1800 on the SAT (three parts) and 28 on the ACT; will attend Quinnipiac University.

Austin Gravelle (Louisiana): Finished 42-12 and sixth in Division 1 state tournament at 135 pounds for coaches Mike Pernat and Derek Grider at Dutchtown High School; three-time state placewinner; career record 151-56. Earned 4.02 GPA, scored 29 on the ACT and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class; will attend Southeastern Louisiana University.

Alex Hicks (New Jersey): Two-time South Jersey Group 2 boys golf champion and top 8 in Group 2 state tournament as junior for coach Will Mendo at Middle Township High School. Earned 4.0 GPA, scored 1800 on the SAT (three parts) and ranks No. 1 in a class of 274; will attend the College of William and Mary.

Sean McAllister (Connecticut): Finished 31-11 and third in State Open Championship at 130 pounds for coaches Michael Voiland and Mike Morris at Bacon Academy; two-time Class M state runnerup; career record 81-31. Earned 3.86 GPA, scored 1220 on the SAT and ranks in the top 15 per cent of his class; will attend Western New England College.

Patrick Rhoads (Missouri): Two-time Class 3 state champion with 51-1 record at 160 pounds for coach Gary Mayabb at Staley High School; four-time state placewinner; career record 171-19. Finished fourth in National High School Seniors Championships. Earned 3.66 GPA, scored 21 on the ACT and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class; will attend the University of Iowa.

Welles Sakmar (Connecticut): Finished 29-7 and third in Class L state tournament at 140 pounds for coach Erik Delahanty at Daniel Hand High School. Earned 3.78 GPA, scored 1360 on the SAT and 29 on the ACT and ranks in the top 20 percent of his class; will attend Johns Hopkins University.

Tyler Tilbe (Connecticut): Two-time Class S state champion with 45-2 record at 125 pounds for coach Dave Green at Nonnewaug High School; two-time State Open champion, fifth in New England Championships, four-time Class S state placewinner; career record 160-23. Earned 3.9 GPA, scored 1370 on the SAT and ranks in the top 10 percent of his class; will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Michael Vanderlinden (Kansas): Class 3-2-1A state qualifier with 39-5 record at 130 pounds for coach Doug Vanderlinden at Burlington High School; fourth in state at 119 as junior; career record 133-35. Earned 4.0 GPA, scored 30 on the ACT and ranks No. 1 in a class of 54; will attend Washburn University.

Jake Wallstedt (Tennessee): Finished 13-4 and fifth in Division 2 state tournament at 171 pounds for coach Marc Taylor at Franklin Road Academy; career record 21-6. Earned 3.74 GPA, scored 1230 on the SAT and 28 on the ACT and ranks No. 12 in a class of 52; will attend Texas Christian University.

Austin Wilson (Nebraska): Three-time Class C state champion with 47-0 record at 160 pounds for coach Ryan Brand at St. Cecilia High School; four-time state placewinner; career record 180-3. Finished second in National High School Seniors Championships. Earned 4.0 GPA, scored 29 on the ACT and ranks No. 1 in a class of 42; will attend the University of Nebraska.  

 

Class of 2012 

Jackson Blakley (Idaho): Finished 40-8 and third in Class 4A state tournament at 130 pounds for coach Todd Cady at Columbia High School; three-time state placewinner; career record 99-23. Earned 4.02 GPA and ranks No. 7 in a class of 287.

Clay Dent (Alabama): Two-time Class A-4A state champion with 43-1 record at 171 pounds for coach Jack Lamey Sr. at Piedmont High School; career record 127-13. Earned 3.95 GPA and ranks No. 9 in a class of 65.

Joaquin Garcia (New Mexico): Class A-3A state runnerup at 119 as sophomore; finished 15-3 this season at 130 for coach Joaquin Garcia at St. Michael’s High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 75-17. Earned 3.8 GPA and ranks No. 10 in a class of 130.

Eric Manuel (Connecticut): Finished 13-5 and fourth in Class S state tournament at 119 pounds for coach Eric Manuel at Old Saybrook High School; fourth in State Open Championships, two-time Class S state placewinner; two-year record 47-13. Earned 3.47 GPA.

Robert Marchese (California): Finished 51-6 and seventh in state tournament at 171 pounds for coach Dave Stidham at Oak Hills High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 115-28. Finished second in NHSCA National Juniors Championships. Earned 3.8 GPA and ranks No. 9 in a class of 457.

McCoy Newberg (Tennessee): Division 1 state champion and Outstanding Wrestler at 160 pounds for coach Jared Grindstaff at Independence High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 127-15. Finished eighth in National High School Sophomores Championships; National High School Freshman Championships runnerup. Earned 3.7 GPA and scored 25 on the ACT.

Hamilton Noel (Washington): Two-time Class 3A state runnerup with 36-2 record at 152 pounds for coach Manny Brown at Liberty High School; career record 96-11. Earned 3.89 GPA.

Vito Pasone (Pennsylvania): Finished 45-5 and seventh in Class AA state tournament at 112 pounds for coach Ron Swingle at E.L. Meyers High School; career record 110-10. Finished second in NHSCA National Juniors Championships. Earned 3.4 GPA, scored 960 on the SAT and ranks in the top 25 percent of his class.

Shannon Savell (Virginia): Named VISAA First Team All-State in tennis; member of two-time VISAA state championship girls basketball team for coach Stephen Savell at Norfolk Christian School Earned 4.22 GPA and ranks No. 1 in a class of 52.

Chris Schramm (Vermont): Two-time state champion with 46-9 record at 112 pounds for coach Scott Legacy at Mount Anthony Union High School; career record 110-19. Earned 3.4 GPA, scored 1210 on the SAT and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class.

Nathan Silverthorn (New York): Finished 45-5 and fourth in Division 2 state tournament at 145 pounds for coach Mike Hartle at General Brown High School; career record 136-50. Earned 3.7 GPA.

Tyler Strauss (Connecticut): Finished 34-3 this season at 152 pounds for coach Eric Misko at Farmington High School; sixth in Class L state tournament at 145 as freshman; career record 59-16. Earned 3.6 GPA.

Brandon Walsh (Connecticut): Two-time Class S state champion with 44-0 record at 135 pounds for coach Dana Cooke at Griswold High School; State Open and New England Champion, three-time Class S state placewinner; career record 120-15. Earned 3.4 GPA and ranks in the top 10 percent of his class.

Matthew Watson (Florida): Finished 42-10 and fourth in Class A state tournament at 125 pounds for coach Dan Dugan at Cocoa Beach High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 139-54. Earned 3.6 GPA, scored 1090 on the SAT and 24 on the ACT and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class.  

 

Class of 2013

Brian Amato (Connecticut): Finished 36-7 and third in Class L state tournament at 112 pounds for coach Marco Tirillo at Newington High School; fifth in State Open Championships, two-time Class L state placewinner; career record 67-13. Earned 3.67 GPA.

Tanner Beck (Idaho): Finished 29-11 and sixth in Class 4A state tournament at 135 pounds for coach Todd Cady at Columbia High School; career record 42-22. Earned 3.74 GPA and ranks in the top 15 percent of his class.

Chris Chorzepa (Connecticut): Class L state runnerup with 47-7 record at 152 pounds for coach Marco Tirillo at Newington High School; finished third in State Open and New England Championships. Earned 3.6 GPA.

T.J. Buser (Oklahoma): Class 3A state qualifier with 36-10 record at 135 pounds for coach Derek Scheihing at Geary High School; fourth in state at 125 at freshman; career record 80-19. Earned 4.0 GPA, scored 22 on the ACT and ranks No. 1 in a class of 35.

Garrett Hastings (Connecticut): Finished 36-8 and fourth in Class L state tournament at 119 pounds for coach Eric Misko at Farmington High School. Earned 3.7 GPA.

Travis Joyce (Georgia): Class 3A state runnerup with 36-7 record at 171 pounds for coach Mike Mason at Carrollton High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 73-14. Earned 4.0 GPA and ranks in the top 5 percent of his class.

Cody Karns (North Carolina): Finished 53-3 and third in Class 4A state tournament at 103 pounds for coach Morgan Fore at Lake Norman High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 102-12. Earned 4.3 GPA and ranks No. 18 in a class of 496.

Jonah Lewis (Connecticut): Finished 21-16 and sixth in Class L state tournament at 112 pounds for coach Erik Delahanty at Daniel Hand High School. Earned 3.41 GPA.

Dylan Martel (Connecticut): Class S state champion with 31-8 record at 103 pounds for coach Dana Cooke at Griswold High School; two-time Class S state placewinner; career record 59-27. Earned 3.7 GPA and ranks No. 1 in a class of 176.

Matthew McAllister (Connecticut): Finished 26-8 and third in Class M state tournament at 119 pounds for coaches Michael Voiland and Mike Morris at Bacon Academy; two-time state placewinner; career record 56-16. Earned 3.91 GPA and ranks in the top 20 per cent of his class.

Joshua Patrick (Pennsylvania): Finished 30-7 and fourth in Class AA state tournament at 112 pounds for coach Tom Bridge at Ligonier Valley High School; two-time state qualifier; career record 64-14. Finished sixth in NHSCA National Sophomores Championships. Earned 3.91 GPA.

Kameron Reddish (Idaho): Class 4A state champion with 39-8 record at 119 pounds for coach Todd Cady at Columbia High School; two-time state placewinner; career record 82-16. Earned 3.94 GPA and ranks in the top 10 percent of his class.

Wyatt Roop (Florida): Finished 31-14 and fifth in Class A state tournament at 112 pounds for coach Mike Sciccitano at Tampa Jesuit High School; career record 59-27. Earned 3.61 GPA.

Cain Salas (Missouri): Class 3 state champion with 35-5 record at 135 pounds for coach Tim Rupp at Oak Park High School; two-time state qualifier; career record 69-7. Finished second in National High School Sophomores Championships. Earned 3.8 GPA and ranks in the top 10 percent of his class.

Jake Savoca (Connecticut): Class L state champion with 35-6 record at 135 pounds for coach Erik Delahanty at Daniel Hand High School; fourth in State Open Championships, two-time Class L state placewinner; career record 73-15. Earned 3.6 GPA.

Kevin Wivell (Connecticut): Finished 32-9 and third in Class L state tournament at 152 pounds for coach Erik Delahanty at Daniel Hand High School. Earned 3.54 GPA.  

 

Class of 2014 

David Colvin (Connecticut): Finished 26-8 and fourth in Class S at 125 pounds for coach Eric Manuel at Old Saybrook High School. Earned 3.63 GPA.

Rachel Hale (Vermont): State champion and Outstanding Wrestler with 46-11 record at 103 pounds for coach Scott Legacy at Mount Anthony Union High School. Earned 3.7 GPA and ranks in the top 15 percent of her class.

Rhett Hembree (Georgia): Class 3A state runnerup with 56-16 record at 125 pounds for coach Mike Mason at Carrollton High School. Earned 3.8 GPA and ranks in the top 20 percent of his class.

Ryan Rigney (Connecticut): Finished 33-9 and sixth in Class L state tournament at 135 pounds for coach Eric Misko at Farmington High School. Earned 3.7 GPA.
