The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) is proud to announce Art Corrigan, head coach at Notre Dame-Green Pond High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania as its National High School Girls’ Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Corrigan is one of America’s most decorated cross country coaches with over 1,200 wins while leading the Crusaders’ girls’ and boys’ cross country teams over the past 30 years.  This past season saw Corrigan pick-up his 600th career win with the girls.  He achieved his 600th win with the boys several years ago.  He is currently America’s all-time winningest coach in the sport.

After winning his 600th girls’ meet, Corrigan told WFMZ TV, “Some of our guys and girls run 400 or 500 miles all summer. We do a lot of hard work at cross country here at Notre Dame. It’s amazing, five guys I coached their mom and dads in the 80s and early 90s. It’s almost like the circle of life.”

Corrigan’s girls’ teams have won six District XI championships, while the boys have won eight titles. From 2006 through 2009, his boys’ runners went 100-0.

“We are extremely pleased to honor Coach Corrigan,” said Eric Hess, Executive Director of the NHSCA. “Art and his runners have established a level of excellence over the past 30 years that will be hard top beat in the future. He’s exhibited a strong dedication to supporting and developing high school student-athletes.”

Corrigan is the first Pennsylvania high school girls’ cross country coach to receive the honor.

Throughout 2018, the NHSCA will be honoring high achievers in the high school coaching community for the 2017-18 school year by naming Coaches of the Year in a total of 20 boys’ and girls’ sports.  It’s the 19th straight year that the NHSCA has presented its National Coach of the Year Awards.

Each one of the honorees will receive a beautiful trophy, plus they will be honored in the National High School Digital Sports Hall of Fame Museum that the NHSCA that is currently under design.
