Record number of teams to compete at 17th Annual NHSCA Duals

After a record breaking year last year, the 17th Annual NHSCA National Duals has once again jumped to a whole new level this year. This year’s event will showcase 324 teams, 19 more than last year, making this the largest dual meet tournament in the country. The three-day event known as the Battle at the Beach is brought to you by the National High School Coaches Association. Many of the nation’s top wrestlers will be competing in this year’s event.
The 17th Annual NHSCA National Duals are set to take place over Memorial Day weekend at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Over 5,000 participants are expected to compete over the holiday weekend on 50 mats.
Wrestling kicks off Saturday, May 28th at 8am with pool wrestling that will continue Sunday, May 29th. Those teams that win their pool will compete Monday in the bracketed championship event to claim the elusive title. Obviously, this event serves as a showcase for college coaches.
The three divisions are – High School (Grades 9-12) featuring 168 teams, Middle School (Grades 6-8) with 84 teams and Elementary (Grades 4-6) highlighting 72 teams. The NHSCA National Wrestling Duals is the largest dual-meet team event in scholastic wrestling, which features elite teams and wrestlers from over 28 states.
In the high school division, the top 5 teams from last year will return to this year’s event looking to claim the title. Leading the is returning champions Young Guns Black, followed by NY Kong, Team Nauman, Shore Thing and Prestige World Wide.
The Middle School Division champions, the NJ Scorpions are looking to finish at the top of this year’s event. Other top returning teams include Young Guns, Intense SOB (Buxton), and Illinois Outsiders as the top teams from last year’s event.
In the largest field to date of Elementary teams, the top 5 teams from the 2015 Duals, including the Ohio Titans, Battlezone, NJ Scorpion, OMP, and Team Nauman are all registered to battle again at the beach!
Many of the nation’s elite nationally ranked wrestlers compete in this event.
